Abolishing the Patriarchy
Healing Mother Earth
Shamanism is the oldest spiritual practice on the planet. At least 40,000 years old and common to almost all pre-modern societies, Shamanism and Animism form the basis of spiritual experience for most humans living close to the earth.
Shamanism teaches us to hold a balanced view of the Feminine and Masculine principals; giving thanks for both Mother Earth (Goddess) and Father Sky (God). This balanced approach to and reverence for both the Feminine and Masculine spiritual principles is essential to embodying an accurate assessment of the world around us.
Grandfather Sun, I Thank You for the Light that You have Given Me Today. Great Spirit, I Thank You for Your Creation of All Things, Great and Small….
As I observe the unfolding of world events, it appears that a great number of people have become enmeshed in an extremely unhealthy and codependent relationship with sociopathic aspects of social media. Just as an individual recovering from codependency and narcissistic abuse needs time and assistance to heal; so does our society and culture.
In the Shamanic viewpoint, when a person’s behavior defies logical explanation, the Shaman looks for the possibility that a possessing and potentially malevolent spirit has attached itself to the person in question. These spirits can distort an individual’s perception to such a large degree that their actions become unrecognizable from the person which we have previously known…
At the very foundation of Shamanism is the inherent understanding that the entire Earth is alive and interconnected. Not just alive in terms of individual life forms like humans, animals and plants; but alive in terms of the collective consciousness that exists within the Web of Life. This collective consciousness exists on multiple levels. For example, there is an individual consciousness that belongs to each individual (be it plant, animal or person) and there is also the consciousness of an entire species such as Bear Consciousness, Eagle Consciousness, Aspen Tree Consciousness, etc. Through the use of Shamanic Journeying, we have the ability to merge our awareness with and understand the perspective and consciousness of the other life forms with which we share this planet.
One of the techniques that I teach in my intermediate Level Shamanism Class is to discover the “wisdom of an illness” so as to assist in the resolution of the imbalance and help the client return to health. By journeying to learn the wisdom of an illness, we can gain the lesson to be learned and thereby speed the recovery process. Given the widespread media coverage, rampant propagation of conspiracy theories and overall environment of fear surrounding the Corona Virus Covid-19, I thought it would be interesting to ask my guides to show me the wisdom of this virus and the lessons that we can learn from it.
I recently read a post online in which someone commented that serious practitioners don’t “dream up” courses to teach, they work with their helping spirits who guide and illuminate what to teach or impart.
I agree completely with that statement.
The Shamanic methodology that I practice and teach was literally given to me by my Helping Spirits who then showed me a clear image guiding me to spread my work….
Over time, with repetitive practice, each individual Shaman develops their own methodology for accessing the Spirit Mind and Shamanic states of consciousness. These methods are often passed down through a lineage or culture from generation to generation; but regardless of their origins or the methods used; whatever method the Shaman practices regularly becomes habit for the individual Shaman.
The more we practice a certain methodology, the more it becomes ingrained within our subconscious mind as THE PATHWAY for accessing our Spirit Mind and Shamanic states of consciousness. When we become habituated to a certain way of doing things, it is often very challenging to see other pathways, change our habits, or even accept or have an unbiased evaluation of the validity of other methodologies.
From this perspective, I ask myself if it is appropriate for me to allow the spirit of a powerful hallucinogen like Ayahuasca to become the pathway that I use to connect with the spirit world….
Learning Shamanism Online helps us build a strong network of friends across the world; a global community that normalizes Shamanic Consciousness, intuitive awareness, and a desire to act in right relationship to bring healing and balance to the Web of Life.
The Story of Creation is an active event; happening in present time, unfolding before our eyes; and we are the authors.
Every single one of us is writing the story of the Creation of the Earth; here and now and into the future. Just as our past actions (and the actions of our ancestors) have written the story of times that have come before; so too do the actions that we take today write the story of our present and of our future.
Healing From Narcissistic Abuse
A Shamanic Approach To Recovery
If you have ever been intimately involved with someone who suffers from symptoms of Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD); you know how painful and challenging the process of recovery can be. If you have ever been a victim of gas-lighting and other forms of narcissistic abuse; you understand the confusion that comes from having your boundaries repeatedly violated. After the trauma of experiencing the basic norms of civil discourse and respect for your inherent psychic and emotional sovereignty being thrown to the wayside; it is easy to start to believe that your needs don’t matter; and by extension that you don’t matter.
Let us look at the problem of narcissistic abuse from a shamanic perspective.
All of us, every human being, possesses both a Logic Mind and a Spirit Mind. The Logic Mind is what we use to navigate our day to day life in ordinary waking reality. When we think, do math, drive a car, read a book, dial a phone number. etc; we are acting within the province of the Logic Mind. The Spirit Mind, is the realm of intuitive understanding, a place where our experiences can be described but not explained by logic. How, for example, can we logically explain the way we are able to move over space and time in a dream?
Shamanic awareness and shamanic healing is dependent upon the Shaman being able to consistently and effectively access the spirit mind and then return to normal waking consciousness.
