How Shamanic Journeywork Reaches the Imprints Beneath Our Patterns

In this short teaching, I explain one of the core reasons shamanic healing is so effective: our body does not sharply distinguish waking reality from the dreamlike reality we enter in a shamanic journey, any more than it does while we are dreaming. Because of that, journeywork gives us a way to reach the emotional brain directly, where our deepest imprints live.

We store our memories, especially our most difficult ones, in the limbic system, and the strength of an experience determines how deeply it is written in. Those early imprints quietly run our lives, shaping our habitual responses to the world long after we have forgotten forming them. What shamanic journeywork allows, in the way I teach it, is to consciously access that limbic layer, take an eraser to the imprints we no longer want, and call in new ones that let us live into our full potential.
