On Shamanic Consciousness and Listening to the Web of Life

I joined Anne Gordon for the Wild Wisdom Summit, and it turned into one of the warmest conversations I have had about connecting with the living world. Anne communicates with whales and dolphins and once lived for many years with a rainforest community in Panama, so she brought a deep, firsthand feel for the very things we were discussing, and the conversation flowed easily between us.

We began by defining shamanic consciousness, distinguishing it from ordinary reality and from other non-ordinary states, and talking about why the logical mind matters just as much as the spirit mind. From there we moved into the heart of it: how we connect with and learn from animals, plants, mountains, the ocean, even the rocks, and why the key is always listening and joining rather than trying to control. I shared a story about a bird on a morning trail that turned into something quite unexpected, and we explored why treating this awareness as normal, rather than fringe, changes everything.

We also talked about why connecting with the spirit world is the birthright of every human being, not a gift reserved for a chosen few, and about our shared role as caretakers of the web of life, one that is often gentler than we imagine.

If this conversation resonates, you can learn this work beginning with Level 1 - The Fundamentals of Shamanism.
